Vanguard

Spec campaign work for my investing platform of choice.

I’ve been a loyal Vanguard customer since 2018 and have helped five of my good friends set up Roth IRA and SEP IRA accounts.

It’s a joy to put my personal finance obsession to good use.

If I don’t help my buddies take care of their financial futures, who will?

Challenge

A new job can bring a pay raise…
And a setback in retirement saving.

A
Vanguard study found that while the median job switcher’s pay increased by 10%, 1 in 2 lowered their 401(k) contribution rate.

For women ages 25–39 starting a new job, new retirement plan setup is one more task on a full plate. Delaying setup and a lower contribution rate can slow progress.

Insight

Vanguard found that 71% of women say they feel confident saving money. Yet only 48% feel confidence in themselves as investors, even though women often make more disciplined investing choices than men.

Idea

A new job is a new era, and it’s a chance to close the identity gap between saver and investor.

Start Your Investor Era

A workplace retirement plan campaign for Vanguard that empowers women to build a new identity as an investor and to choose a contribution rate that reflects their commitment to their future self.

I created a landing page that meets women at the start of a new gig and lets them see investing decisions playing out over time. It includes:

  • Contribution calculator: Users enter salary, savings, employer match, and ideal retirement age to see how raising their 401(k) contribution rate moves the age they reach their goal.

  • Employer match callout: If a user contributes below the full match, they’ll see the dollars they’re leaving on the table.

  • Research-driven storytelling: The stats set up the stakes. By the time users reach the calculator, they know why the rate they choose matters long-term.
